Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain – can be localized or travel down the arm. Due to its wide range of motion, the likelihood of joint injury is high often leading to a degenerative process, wear and tear and scar tissue. Pain felt in the shoulder blade or scapula nearly has its origin in the neck. Common causes are


  1. Rotator Cuff tears can be described as a deep dull ache in the shoulder particularly when you sleep on the affected side. You have difficulty reaching behind your back or lifting arm up
  2. Impingement Syndrome results in pain, weakness and a loss of movement at the affected shoulder often worsened with overhead activity. Irregular scapula motion and muscle imbalances causes a narrowing in the subacromial joint space impinging the tendon and leading to an inflammatory response
  3. Arthritis common symptom of the shoulder is pain, which is aggravated by activity and progressively worsens. You often have limited range of motion and may hear a grinding, clicking or snapping sound as you move your shoulder
